My Ode to Creme of Nature

My Ode to Creme of Nature

Creme of Nature old

With all of the choices of shampoo, conditioner and hair products on the shelves it is quite tempting to try them all. As I have my share of samples, purchases and try outs there is one brand that I always return to, Crème of Nature  has stood the test of time. Remembering it on my grandmother’s shelf in the red and white bottle, I simply saw it as a product that she used. Then, the results on her hair, which was always soft, the brand stayed on my radar for a while.

Going through the beauty department in stores, I would always pass by the Crème of Nature section, but gravitate toward “new” brands, just because … well you know my grandmother used to use it so it must be old right. Well there is goodness in old things, more than we all know and realize. It was one day, my money was on a serious diet, and I was out of shampoo ahh the college days. My sister gave me some of her Crème of Nature, “here, try it you hair will feel soft and it is moisturizing,” she said.  Once again having the stamp of “grandma’s brand” in my head I knew beggars couldn’t be choosers.

As I washed my hair it was instant, my curls were calm soft and moisturized and I was hooked. The price was, and still is, always right as well.  Through the years I went through my changes and broke up with Crème of Nature products, but it was something that I always came back to.  When I pick up Crème of Nature, I already know what I am getting, an enjoyable wash with great results.

I would also like to add, I don’t have a relaxer although I do flat iron my hair, mainly in the winter. My hair is really curly, very thick, but fine in texture which makes for an interesting combination. This really helps the cuticle and penetrates the moisture throughout my hair, not coating moisture like some products, it really penetrates. This is my ode to Crème of Nature, a product that has been around for about 34 years. I will separate for a while and try something new, but I already know I will always come back.
