Calming Corners Cares: Vote for Haiti

The city of Miami and Waste Management have launched a voting campaign to support Port-au-Prince Haiti in the BBC World News’ Challenge ’09. This competition is a contest that awards innovative grassroots level projects and small business from around the world.

Haiti is one of 12 finalists in the competition. If they win they will receive a grant to further its recycling project LOVE ‘N Haiti, which turns everyday trash into paper charcoal briquettes.

Celebrity Supporters such as Wyclef, Garcelle Beauvais, Russell Simmons, Tony Yayo, Jamie Hector and Mona Scott-Young along with may others are showing support for LOVE’ N Haiti by encouraging people to vote at www.theworldchallenge.co.uk 2. The finalist with the most votes will win.

 The Love ‘N Haiti Project benefits Haiti by

-          creating jobs

-          creating a cleaner, safer and healthier environment

-          decreasing deforestation

-          reducing the incidence of floods
